KDCEA is a partnership of local Protestant churches providing Special Religious Education at Killara High School. KDCEA provides students the opportunity to engage with the God of the Bible as they develop their own commitments and worldview for life.
Protestant SRE encourages students to question, explore and discover the basics of the Christian faith based on the Bible. KDCEA provides SRE to students in Years 7 to 12 with fortnightly classes for students in Years 7 to 10 and quarterly seminars for students in Years 11 and 12. SRE Teachers are authorised, trained and equipped to teach classes and run seminars for students whose parents or caregivers are happy for them to be involved.
Opportunities for students to develop a growing faith are also provided through TAG, Killara High School’s ISCF group, along with training for student leaders. Students from all years are welcome to attend TAG with permission from their parent or caregiver. TAG permission forms are available to download here.
The presence of Renee Evans, our employed SRE Teacher & Coordinator 3 days per week, is well supported by the school. KDCEA must raise over $50,000 per annum from supporters to hold this paid position and to provide Protestant SRE and associated activities to Killara High School, as we do not receive government funding.
KDCEA welcomes the involvement of parents and friends in supporting Protestant SRE as a prayer partner or a financial partner. We provide regular newsletters and prayer updates for you to subscribe to or download. We seek your active support to continue this important and vital opportunity.
A note from Renee:
“Hello! Thank you for your support and prayers. God is doing wonderful things through our ministry at Killara High School.”
